On hot summer late afternoons, my friend Nancy and I like to get together spontaneously, get our drink on and yap about various topics. This usually involves gin. Either one of us always has a Hendricks or Bombay Gin bottle stashed away somewhere, and 1-2-3, we've got ourselves a good old-fashioned gin and tonic in our hands. Yeah, we like our gin. What can I say? But once in a while, we like to venture out and try new cocktails, too . This one has been our total fave this summer. If you have a cappuccino machine don’t hesitate, make it!
You can go with either decaf or regular, totally up to you. I also like to serve this drink at night after dinner or with dessert. In this case, its always decaf, because there is no way I’ll be able to sleep a wink. But everyone’s different, so whatever suits your fancy.
Now, almond milk is my personal preference for this drink. It's just easier on my belly and I find it goes well with the Kahlua and espresso. But, I don’t see why skim milk wouldn’t work either. Now, one thing I gotta point out is that the almond milk froth needs to be cold. Otherwise, this won't be a very refreshing cocktail and will melt the ice cubes right away. My Nespresso frother has the cold froth option, so make sure to use that.
This cocktail not only tastes awesome, but looks fantastic! So, if you wanna impress some dinner guests, that’s the one to go with.

Note : Not all almond milk froths well, the one that works best for me is the Whole Foods 365 Original almond milk. My favorite though is Blue Diamond Original. It froths incredibly well, but it contains carrageenan . Apparently research has shown that exposure to carrageenan causes inflammation . We know that chronic inflammation is a root cause of many serious diseases including heart disease, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, and cancer.
Iced Cappuccino with Tequila and Frothed Almond Milk
4 oz freshly brewed espresso ( I like a double shot )
1 oz of white Tequila
(you can also go with 2oz, if you had a tough day there)
0.75 oz of Kahlua
4 oz Almond milk , frothed
make it :
Make the Espresso, pour it into a tall glass and put it in the fridge till it gets cold.
You can totally make this a few hours ahead of time or even the day before. Store it in a plastic container in this case.
Once the espresso is cold, add the Tequila and Kahlua, mix it up a little , add a few ice cubes and pour the cold frothed almond milk on top.
